The uncommon techniques we use to teach hockey will dramatically improve your skating and stickhandling in a very short time. When you can't skate well everything you do is a "workaround" because you can't do what you want to do in the game.  When you learn how to SKATE with Strong Dynamics you expose your weaknesses and work on them so that ultimately you can do what you want in the game with fewer workarounds.  The game becomes much more fun and your passion for the game intensifies.

Kick It Up A Notch with Brad Morgan’s

TOP NOTCH GOALTENDER TRAINING & CONSULTING

PHILIOSOPHY:

To offer training and consultation that builds off a solid fundamental foundation and challenges each goaltender to achieve his/her “personal best” through cutting edge international instruction.  Top Notch focuses on the modern fundamentals of goaltending stressing movement and flow from one save to the next.  I emphasize the economy of motion and the importance of getting in front of the puck (blocking) as opposed to reaching to make a save.

Steering with the Stick & Gloves

Goalies today must constantly focus on the puck to properly “track” it.  As the puck moves, the head should turn in unison with the stick (3rd eye) and gloves, this forces the rest of the body to follow.  This enables a goalie to remain square to the puck at all times, and decreasing the amount of movement necessary to make a save.

Active Hands

In an efficient stance, goaltenders should keep their elbows tight to their sides with their gloves out in front.  Keeping the gloves out front allows for less visible net to the shooter, reduces glove movement due to the angle of flight, limits holes, and allows the goalie to see the puck when they catch it.

Driving with the Legs & Hips

Goaltenders movements (drives) must be explosive.  A goalies ability to stop and start effectively with their legs and hips sets them up for their next move.

EXPERIENCE:

Brad Morgan has over 13 years experience in coaching male and female goaltenders throughout New England ages 6 to 22.  He currently serves as an active goaltending consultant/coach for the Hockey Academy, USA Hockey -Massachusetts Satellite Program, Mike Geragosian’s All-American Goaltending, Bertagna Goaltending, the Chelmsford Hockey Association, Waltham High School, and Chelmsford High School.  He has also served as a volunteer collegiate goaltending coach.
